Cleveland Golf Factory Fitting

Cleveland Golf has a new fitting center in Huntington Beach, CA.  The new fitting studio is first class!f  It has everything you need to test clubs, putters, and it even has a workout facility.

I was thrilled to get in and check out my equipment.  Long story short, my irons needed to be changed.  I had been playing with offset irons.  Offset clubs are designed to make the ball fly to the left… I want them to go straight.

I have swithed to the CG4 Tours.  They are good looking and they go straight…Bonus!  I like them because the ball flight is more penetrating on the short irons.  I like that because it helps me with my distance control.

If you ever have questions about your equipment,  I recommend that you get on a launch monitor.  The information you find out can really improve your game.  For those of you that are in the California area, I highly recommend that you check out the Cleveland Fitting Center.  I was very pleased with my experience and I left with better clubs.  If you don't live in the California area, many demo days have launch monitors associated with them.

Good luck getting your equipment right.  It is a process, but it is well worth it!

Listen Up – XM Radio

Hi Everybody!  On Thursday, March 1st, I have been asked to do a segment on the show "Making the Turn" hosted by Peter Kessler on XM Radio – PGA Tour.  I am thrilled about this.  I used to do some radio broadcasting on a local station WNDB 1150AM on a program called "Let's Talk Golf."  I loved doing radio; it is a rush. It is fun to put on the headsets and know that you are live on air.  My segment will be about the upcoming season on the Duramed Futures Tour.  I am looking forward to being interviewed by Peter Kessler.  He is one of the best in the business.  Tune in and listen to the show and post your thoughts here on my blog.

Don’t Quit – What keeps you going?

Motivation and enthusiasm are essential to be successful in any arena, especially professional sports.  Reading motivational material is something I have always enjoyed.  Golf can be exhilarating but it can also be cruel.  There are times when golf will shake your confidence and makes you question yourself no matter who you are.  Elite golfers are constantly working on their mental game and cementing their confidence.  Different things keep me going, but reading uplifting material definitely helps.  I have listed a passage below that I read every tournament week.

I also like quotes, you will notice that I have a rolling box of quotes on my Main Page.  What are your favorite inspirational quotes?

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile,  but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must,

But Don't You Quit!

Life is strange with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a fellow turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out.

Don't give up though the pace seems slow

You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than

It seems to a faint and faltering man.

Often the struggler has given up

When he might have captured the victor's cup.

And he learned too late when the night came down

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems afar.

So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit.

It's when things seem the worst

That You Mustn't Quit!

Happy Valentine’s Day

I wanted to wish everybody a Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope you had an enjoyable day and spent time with people you love or did something you are passionate about.  Just thinking…what are you passionate about?  I would have to say golf, chocolate, and 24.

Bogeys to Birdies

I spent some time in Australia this winter.  I had a fabulous time while I was there.  The food was great, the scenery was spectacular, and the people were fabulous!

The majority of my practice time was spent at Royal Fremantle Country Club in Perth, Australia.  The head pro at Royal Fremantle is Andy Mowatt.

Andy Mowatt has more energy and enthusiasm for the game of golf than any person I have ever met.  His passion for the game is contagious.  I was fortunate enough to spend some time working with him on my competitive skills. Andy helped me get back into "playing" golf.  He helped wake up my inner competitor.  Andy's bottom line: be a smart golfer, have fun, and get the ball in the hole!  Simple, I know, but it works!

Andy thank you for taking the time to share some of your golf wisdom with me.  Best of luck with your new TV show Bogeys to Birdies.  If anyone wants to check out the new pilot, go to www.bogeystobirdies.com.au

Congratulations!

I am adding a section in my blog to highlight accomplishments of my family, friends, and website visitors.  If you have done something noteworthy let me know and I will post it here.

My first GOOD JOB POST goes to Andy Purnell.

My good friend, Andy Purnell, shot 64 today at Timacuana Country Club in Jacksonville! Great shooting, Andy!!  Andy has always been an excellent golfer; he used to play on the FSU Golf Team as did I.  But what makes his round so exciting is that Andy is recovering from a recent knee surgery.  Welcome back, Andy…everbody else, look out.
